ArtDates find their own structure or structurelessness as they form. Some are more jam and improvisation oriented, some involve more talking and pinning down of ideas. Dan Bloch was the first musician I've had an ArtDate with and I was curious to see what kind of structures would emerge. We improvised to generate ideas and found a groove we wanted to play with and let develop. Turn the camera on and go.
When we stopped to pause, we'd been improvising for 20 minutes. The last four minutes of that time I let go of the strict roles of dancer/musician and started to vocalize. We both really liked this section and wanted to share it with you. There's some juicy (and crunchy) bits in the "Groove Excerpts" section at the end of the video, too.
Thanks for watching!
